Obituary - Todd Anthony Smith

Todd Anthony Smith, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2024, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Lisa Smith, and devoted son, Braden Smith.

A celebration of Todd's life will be held at Oasis Church on Sunday, August 25, 2024, beginning at 2 p.m.. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring his memory.

Born on March 29, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Todd was the cherished son of Carol and Bill Smith. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1980 and followed his father’s passion for harness racing, training and racing horses throughout Indiana and Illinois.

At the age of 25, Todd welcomed his first child, Brittany, and began his career at Vulcraft in Butler, Indiana. It was there that he discovered his passion for the steel joist industry, a field he dedicated himself to for many years. Todd's hard work and dedication culminated in his role as production manager at New Millennium Building Systems, where he continued to inspire his colleagues until his retirement in January 2024. Even after retirement, Todd remained close to his friends from New Millennium, cherishing the relationships he built over his career.

Todd was a man of many interests. He loved traveling, fishing, and boating, and he often took on projects around the house with enthusiasm. However, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His warm smile and infectious laughter could light up any room, and he had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Bill Smith. He is survived by his mother Carol Smith, brother Joel Smith (Paula), and brother Tim Smith (Diane) all residing in Indiana and devoted wife, Lisa Smith of Fallon, NV; his sons, Braden Smith (Jamie) of Fallon, NV, and Brock Smith of Auburn, IN; his daughter, Brittany Howard (Justin) of Auburn, IN; his stepdaughter, Jenna Tandberg (David) of Fallon, NV; his stepson, Justin Cole of Denver, CO; and his cherished grandchildren: Wren, Lark, Bennet, Beckham, Emma, and a baby Smith on the way, along with Allyson Keller, Tinlee, Emma, and Gabby Tandberg. In December of 2020 my son was in the hospital and wouldn't be home for Christmas with his 3 children. Todd dressed up as Santa Clause and delivered presents to my grandchildren! What a wonderful human being!

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
