Obituary - Todd Anthony Smith

Todd Anthony Smith, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2024, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Lisa Smith, and devoted son, Braden Smith.

A celebration of Todd's life will be held at Oasis Church on Sunday, August 25, 2024, beginning at 2 p.m.. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring his memory.

Born on March 29, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Todd was the cherished son of Carol and Bill Smith. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1980 and followed his father’s passion for harness racing, training and racing horses throughout Indiana and Illinois.

At the age of 25, Todd welcomed his first child, Brittany, and began his career at Vulcraft in Butler, Indiana. It was there that he discovered his passion for the steel joist industry, a field he dedicated himself to for many years. Todd's hard work and dedication culminated in his role as production manager at New Millennium Building Systems, where he continued to inspire his colleagues until his retirement in January 2024. Even after retirement, Todd remained close to his friends from New Millennium, cherishing the relationships he built over his career.

Todd was a man of many interests. He loved traveling, fishing, and boating, and he often took on projects around the house with enthusiasm. However, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His warm smile and infectious laughter could light up any room, and he had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Bill Smith. He is survived by his mother Carol Smith, brother Joel Smith (Paula), and brother Tim Smith (Diane) all residing in Indiana and devoted wife, Lisa Smith of Fallon, NV; his sons, Braden Smith (Jamie) of Fallon, NV, and Brock Smith of Auburn, IN; his daughter, Brittany Howard (Justin) of Auburn, IN; his stepdaughter, Jenna Tandberg (David) of Fallon, NV; his stepson, Justin Cole of Denver, CO; and his cherished grandchildren: Wren, Lark, Bennet, Beckham, Emma, and a baby Smith on the way, along with Allyson Keller, Tinlee, Emma, and Gabby Tandberg. And Emley Cole. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Todd's legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

In December of 2020 my son was in the hospital and wouldn't be home for Christmas with his 3 children. Todd dressed up as Santa Clause and delivered presents to my grandchildren! What a wonderful human being!

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon ManComment author: Pam BitschenauerComment text: Ken, thank you for your kind words about Scott our "Mellon Man". My husband and I used to visit with Scott quite often when we lived in Fallon and then whenever we had the chance to as we passed through town. He was truly a good person and will be sorely missed.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 3:15 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
