Future Fest Donors Ensure Playground Upgrades Coming Soon

The sold-out annual Oasis Academy Future Fest Fundraiser held in April had one specific goal: to raise funds for the much-dated kindergarten through eighth-grade playground. Thanks to the generosity of donors and additional funds from the school, that goal is one step closer to reality.

With project estimates coming in at over $100,000, the remodel will need to be opened for bidders. The Oasis Academy administration hopes to begin that process in the next few weeks. The administration is excited about the renovation but asks for patience as it navigates the process.

“Transforming our playground is a journey that requires time and careful planning,” said Amanda Barbosa, elementary and middle school principal. “We know our Bighorn Community is excited to see changes, and we want to make sure we do it correctly and focus on the critical needs in updating the playground.”

The school's top priorities are worn-out turf and at least one additional piece of playground equipment.

Students could add their wishes for playground improvements by creating their dream playground placemats, which were placed at every table during the Future Fest Event. Monkey bars were the students' top priority.

“The placemats from Future Fest gave us a great starting point to know what the students want to see in the remodel,” she said. “We know that playgrounds are vital spaces where imagination takes flight, friendships blossom, and the joy of movement ignites a lifelong love for play.”

Oasis Academy is very grateful for the sponsors and donors from the dinner. They included Sean Davison, City of Fallon, CC Communications, SS Hert Trucking, Frank Woodliff, Coer Rochester, Tedford Tire, The Depot, Les Schwab, Western Nevada College, Digitex Printing, Nevada State Bank, Edison Electric Services, Hiskett and Sons, Dusty and Amanda Casey, Rochelle Tisdale, Melissa Mackedon, Chris and Samantha Gomes, Jeff and Virginia Knight, Kurt and Renae Paholke, Great Basin Dairy, Leonard and Karen Bogdanowicz, Gemini, Ronda Kindrick, Out West Buildings, Gomes Brothers, Not New Shop, Janet Kelly, Pat Erwin, the Cheesecake Factory, Wise Villa Winery, Johnny Ristorante Italiano, La Cucina, Redhawk Golf Course, Winco Foods, Tamarack Resort, Atlantis Resort, the Wok, Las Vegas Knights, Ruby River Steakhouse, Grimaldi’s, Kristopher Nastro, Outback Steakhouse, the Discovery Museum, Moana Nursery, Bella Prewett, Sahara Resort, Harbor Freight, Norma Northcutt, Nevada State Bank, Jennifer Beebe, Sheree Jensen, Diana Paul, Dane and Kelly Nott, Total Wine, Squeeze-In, Reno Aces, Arizona Diamondbacks, Tumbleweed Disposal, Frey Ranch, Michael and Sons, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Taryn Lenon Photography, Fallon Floors, WCW Corporation, Norma Northcutt, Coca-Cola, Churchill Credit Union, Miles Construction, Financial Horizons Credit Union, Michael and Sons Jewelry, Nasser White and the Greenwave Bar, Vortex, Mendoza’s, Harmon Junction, Wild Island, Defy, Big R, Michelle Gabiola-Rogers, Churchill County, Silver and Blue Outfitters, Workman Farms, Nothing To It, and Talus Rock.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
