4th of July Festivities in Fallon – A Communitywide Celebration

4th of July Festivities in Fallon – A Communitywide Celebration
Photos by Leanna Lehman.

Hours before Fallon’s annual 4th of July Parade, spectators began lining the street, with children decked in sparkling patriotic colors, ready with bags for candy and impatient for the fun to begin.

Hosted by the Fallon Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event seemed to surpass any recent memory in size and enjoyment. The two-hour-long event featured parade floats from several local businesses and organizations. Several schools were represented, including CCHS cheer, Churchill County Middle School, Logos Christian Academy, and Oasis Academy College Prep.

Fallon’s business community turned out in force, with floats by Rustoration Garage, replete with antique cars, Cheek Construction with their new Concrete On-Demand truck, Dairy Farmers of America, Jupiter Trucking, Big Mike’s Guns and Ammo, Eagles Heating and Air Conditioning, Stone Cabin Coffee, and several others.

Representing some of our local churches and organizations were the Boys Baseball 11U and 12U State Champions, Oasis Desert Trail Riders (ATVs), Silver State Stars mounted flag team, Churchill County Jr. Rodeo Queen Evva Brown (right), Christian Life Center, St. John’s Lutheran Church, and New Beginnings Community Church.

The Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe was on hand, showcasing their new FPST Mobile Clinic, their Boys and Girls Club, and Fox Peak.

Shining bright for the red, white, and blue were the American Legion, Marine Corps League Toys for Tots, Fleet Reserve Association, NASF Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR), NASF Fed Fire and Emergency, Capt. Shane Tanner, NASF Base Commander, with family, other NAS personnel, and some parade-worthy oversized naval military equipment, pictured below. Most Patriotic entry.

Several local vendors, many on Maine Street, offered a variety of summer-perfect foods and beverages, including Bottle and Brie, P & Q’s Tavern, and Cranberry Cottage. Next to the Fallon Nugget, several more vendors were a part of Fallon’s 4th of July Block Party, offering farm-fresh and cottage foods and featuring the annual bed races, a (pre-judged) pie-baking contest, and the window decorating contest.

Topping off the day’s events were fireworks at Rattlesnake Hill, helping make this year’s 4th of July celebration so memorable. Thanks to The Fallon Chamber of Commerce and its many parade sponsors, the City of Fallon, Churchill County Parks and Recreation, and all our community volunteers and organizations for all their dedication and hard work.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
