Special Events

The Summer Reading Program runs through July 31, which is the final day for logbooks. Paper reading logs are available at the library, or you can track your reading in Beanstack. Each time you visit the library with more books on your log, you get a new brag tag and a free book to keep.

Additional Summer Reading Program activities this month include:

  • Reading with Rover on July 11 at 3:30 p.m.
  • The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival performers present a showcase on July 30 at 2 p.m.

Senator Rosen’s office representative will be at the library on July 11 at 1 p.m. for “office hours.” Stop by and let the Senator’s staff know what is on your mind.

Elementary Book Club meets July 26 at 3:30 p.m. in the Library Annex at 3 p.m. for those in third through fifth grades. Reserve your book to take home at bit.ly/CCLElementaryBookClub.

Ongoing Programs

“1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” encourages youngsters to read books before entering school. Library staff suggest book titles. Recognition is given for every 100 books read on the way to 1,000. Sign-ups are accepted at any time at bit.ly/CCL1000BBK.

Spice Club features a different fair-trade spice for the community to try. Tag the library on social media to share your culinary creations. July’s spice is anise.

Wednesdays

Children’s story time at 11 a.m. Each week’s story time will feature the same content. Children’s Librarian Miss J reads picture books to children and offers a craft to accompany most stories. It is geared toward children ages three to five, but all kids are welcome to participate.

Family board game night is at 4:30 p.m. Come with the whole family to enjoy board games supplied by the library…or bring your own to play together.

Thursdays

Children’s story time is at 10 and 11 a.m., except for July 4.

Fridays

STEAM sessions are at 1:30 p.m. Choose from science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities that vary from week to week. The sessions are geared toward kids ages six through 11, but all are welcome.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
