Introducing Sage Brush Pop Warner and Cheer: A Message to Youth Football Families and the Community

Introducing Sage Brush Pop Warner and Cheer: A Message to Youth Football Families and the Community

Nearly two decades ago, Fallon Youth Football League's (FYFL) first Commissioner, Courtney Wills, had a vision to participate in a league that allowed every athlete an opportunity to play regardless of age or size. The relationship formed with the Sierra Youth Football League (SYFL) has been instrumental in our community's student-athlete success. We truly appreciate the path that SYFL paved for youth football and cheer in Northern Nevada.

After much consideration, we've decided to move in a new direction for the 2024 season. We will start by dissolving the Fallon Youth Football League along with Fallon Pop Warner to form one program as a participant in Sage Brush Pop Warner. We would like to introduce Churchill County Youth Football and Cheer. We believe it is in the best interests of our families, our community, and most importantly, our athletes to create one program of Greenwave faithfuls. We are excited for the new competition, restored rivalries, and opportunities Sage Brush Pop Warner presents.

As we close this chapter of Fallon Athletics, it is important to recognize every participant and volunteer who contributed to our growth and success. Thank you to the Board Members, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Managers, Equipment Managers, Concession Coordinators, Field Managers, and Volunteers who dedicated countless hours in preparation for hosting numerous SYFL Experience events, home games, and camps and creating a safe, competitive environment for young athletes to excel. Thank you to the parents, grandparents, guardians, siblings, and immediate and distant relatives who supported our teams at home as well as on the road at football games, cheer competition, playoffs, championship games, and the Winter Classic. Thank you to the players who created a foundation for future Greenwave to follow by embracing a strong work ethic, drive, motivation, and grit while amassing 26 football and 7 cheer championships. Thank you to our devoted community, city, and county officials, and business owners who rally around our young athletes with positive encouragement, support, and mentorship.

Thank you, Sierra Youth Football League, for the memories, and thank you, Sage Brush Pop Warner, for the future.

We will share additional information in the coming weeks regarding registration, age divisions, etc. We will retain our FYFL Greenwave FB page for the immediate future. Expect the CCYFC transition to officially take place in late February.
Our goal and direction for one unified program starts today.

CCYFC - One Team. One Dream. One Family.
Respectfully, Anthony Juarez
FYFL/CCYFC Commissioner

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
