This week, the team played two home games, which was nice after three road games last week.

On Monday, January 22, they played Coral Academy. The boys came out with some intense defensive play, creating turnovers that led to some easy scoring, ending the quarter with a lead of 12 - 6. That continued through the second quarter, with Fenn Mackedon and Trevor Barrenchea scoring 18 of the 22 points we had in that quarter, going into the half with a 34 to 15 lead. They continued that strong defense throughout the second half, only allowing Coral one field goal and two free throws for the half ending the game with a win, 60 to 19. “I wanted to work on our half-court trapping defense, and the boys responded well, getting 20 steals and 17 deflections during the game. It was also nice to see our shooting percentage get to where it should be and scoring coming from multiple players shooting 44% of the contest,” said Schank.

Player stats:
Fenn Mackedon: 21 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, 3 steals
Trevor Barrenchea: 13 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 5 steals
Austin Booker: 9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist
Matthew Bird: 7 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals
Jason Newmann: 5 points, 3 rebounds
Kayden White: 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals
Eli Jones: 2 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals

On January 26, the team played Silver Stage High School. Again, they came out with that strong defensive and exceptional shooting, creating a lead at the end of the first quarter of 20 - 6. A slow second quarter cut into our lead, ending the half with a score of 22 - 14. They got back on track in the second half out-scoring them 30 - 16, getting the league win at 52 - 30. Fenn Mackedon came out with the hot hand from long-range, converting seven of eight attempt points from the three-point line, and Matthew Bird going six for eight from the two-point range. “It was great to see the shots fall for the team. You could see their confidence get higher and higher as the game progressed. That's a big part of being a scorer,” said Schank.

Player stats:
Fenn Mackedon: 28 points, 4 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals
Matthew Bird: 12 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals
Austin Booker: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals
Hunter Adams: 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Trevor Barrenchea: 2 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals
Zander Sheldon-Davis: 2 points, 1 rebound

The week of January 29, they play at home Monday vs. Incline; on Wednesday, it is off to Reno to play Coral Academy again; and on Saturday, traveling to North Tahoe High School.

From the editor: This is a very good question and we apologize for not catching that wasn't in there. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITORComment author: Debra J RidenourComment text: So sorry for your loss.
