Obituary - Marlin "Bob" Robert Hanneman Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marlin "Bob" Robert Hanneman Jr., beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend who was born on April 21, 1959, in Fallon, Nevada, to Marlin and Kris Hanneman.

Bob was preceded in death by his son Mitchell Hanneman, his father Marlin Hanneman, and his sister Debra Young. He is survived by his wife, Julie Lynn Hanneman, whom he married on December 2, 1978, in Fernley, NV, a marriage that lasted 13 days shy of 45 years. He is also survived by his mother, Kris Hanneman; by sons Robert (Amy) Hanneman and Shawn (Shawna) Hanneman as well as his six grandchildren: Connor, Caleb, Colter, Bronson, Ember, and Tinslee; by his mother-in-law Phyllis Clemmer, brother-in-law Tom (Sheri) Ames; and by his sister-in-law Tara McKnight. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Kristie (Butch) Dodson and Loni Kowalski, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob attended Fernley High School, graduating in 1977. His working career was at Hanneman’s Towing as a tow truck driver, which he did for over 50 years until retiring. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love of the outdoors was taught to him by his father, a love that has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. He had a kind heart and a good-looking smile that could light up any room he walked into.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and Disneyland trips. Family was the most important part of Bob’s life. Every weekend, you would find him surrounded by loved ones at family barbecues, poker nights, or making popcorn for his grandkids. He will be remembered for always being willing to help anyone who needed it without expecting anything in return. He was a friendly man who loved to carry on conversations with anyone and everyone. He will be missed dearly.

A memorial service will be held at the Fire Dept. on Main St. in Fernley, Nevada, on Dec 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the life of Bob Hanneman, who will forever live on in our hearts and memories.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
