Oasis Academy Charter School has received a $4.3 million dollar grant from the William N. Pennington Foundation, according to Oasis officials. The funds will assist in the building of a new facility to house Oasis Academy College Prep located off Venturacci Lane.

The name of William N. Pennington is well known in Nevada, as he was a gaming industry pioneer, a successful entrepreneur, and one of Nevada's leading philanthropists. The Pennington Foundation was the lead donor for the William N. Pennington Life Center and William N. Pennington Fallon Youth Club. Now, Oasis Academy is the recipient of the Pennington Foundation’s incredible generosity.

"Facilities funding is one of a charter school's greatest challenges", says Melissa Mackedon, Oasis Academy Chief Executive Officer. "If it were not for the generosity of the William N Pennington Foundation, Oasis Academy would not be able to complete a project of this size." Construction is set to begin immediately, and the facility is scheduled to be operational for the 2024-2025 school year. The public is welcome to attend the groundbreaking ceremony on September 18 at 10:30 a.m.

As a public charter school Oasis does not receive state or local funding for facilities. Building this high school is a step toward providing our students with the facilities they deserve,” said Mackedon. Oasis Academy College Prep reports that they have been a 5-star rated high school since the school’s inception in 2015 and they continue to have a 100% graduation rate. This addition will only help them to continue to provide a first-rate education to local students and Jump Start enrollees heading for college.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
