Monnie Fowkes

Our loving Monnie Carolyn Fowkes, 76 years old, of Fallon, Nevada, went to meet her heavenly father on July 14, 2023, after a lengthy hard-fought battle with congestive heart failure.
Carolyn was born in Burlington, North Carolina on January 13, 1947, to her loving parents James C. and Monnie L. Smith. The family moved to California and settled in the Salinas Valley when she was almost 5 years old. In 1965, she graduated from North Salinas High School in Salinas, California. During her time in Salinas, California, she met her eternal companion and love of her life, Robert. On April 28, 1984, Carolyn and Robert blended their families into one.
While living in California, Carolyn loved working as a hairdresser for approximately 15 years and as an associate at various retail stores. Then in 1996, Carolyn and Robert packed up their belongings and moved to Fallon, Nevada. Together, they built a home full of love and happiness where everyone felt welcome.
Carolyn was extremely creative. She loved organizing family celebrations, serving others, shopping, crafting, floral arranging, and decorating her home for every occasion and holiday. Everything she created and designed looked like a photo found in Better Homes and Gardens magazine. However, nothing could compare to the love Carolyn had for her family and friends. She leaves all of her family and friends with memories, love, and life lessons that will transcend through future generations.
Throughout Carolyn’s lengthy and courageous battle, she navigated through her illness with dignity, determination, bravery, strength, and grace; always striving to remain positive.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father James C. Smith (1968), mother Monnie L. Smith (1982), and brother James L. Smith (1963).
She will be deeply missed by her loving and eternal companion of 38 years, Robert Fowkes; her children Carolyn “Missy” Pepper, Michael (Sherri) Barnes, Maryann Renfroe, Timothy (Becky) Fowkes, and Gary (Helen Marie) Fowkes; her grandchildren Zane Pepper, Chaz Pepper, Brittani Chacon, Justin Turner, Blake Fowkes, Brandon Turner-Barnes, Dyllon Renfroe, Jancie Fowkes, Alyssa Fowkes, Aubrey Renfroe, and Maddisen Renfroe; 5 great-grandchildren; and an abundance of friends.
The funeral service was held on July 20, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Taylor Street, Fallon, Nevada.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
