Bubble Mural created by Kaitlin Castañeda and Savanna Regli

Bubble Mural created by Kaitlin Castañeda and Savanna Regli
by Jaime Shafer --  In the fall of 2018, art teacher Jaime Shafer, approached freshmen students Kaitlin Castañeda and Savanna Regli about the possibility of creating a mural outside of the art room in the Vocational Building. Kaitlin and Savanna were excited about the possibility and spent some time over the winter break creating sketches. They returned to school with a few different ideas and worked to refine them and create a sketch that could be shared with the administration. The students decided they wanted an interactive image so that students could photograph themselves and share it via social media. They were inspired by Kelsey Montague, who creates interactive murals with the hashtag #whatliftsyou. What Lifts You is meant to engage people in a positive way. Kaitlin and Savanna decided they wanted to represent our school community and all that is offered through our classes. They painted images that showcase sports, languages, art, music, HOSA, and the myriad of other opportunities our students find in our school community. These young ladies exceeded Ms. Shafer’s expectations in all ways. Taking on a task such as this involves a huge time commitment and determination. The students conceptualized, designed, and painted the entire mural independently. Ms. Shafer notes, “As a teacher, I was most impressed with their dedication and maturity. They worked through their design and problems independently, seeking out help only after they had tried their best to solve the problem on their own. I think this type of problem solving is what most teachers hope to see in their students.” The mural can be seen in the Vocational Building outside of room 6.   Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
