School Board to Interview Four Finalists

The Churchill County School Board of Trustees will interview four finalists for the superintendent position during Special Board Meetings on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6. The meetings are open to the public.

Two candidates will be interviewed on Friday, May 5, at the district office starting at 3:30 p.m. and two candidates will be interviewed on Saturday, May 6, at the Churchill County Middle School Library starting at 10:30 a.m.

For those attending Saturday, please park in the parking lot on the north side of CCMS and enter through the side entrance on West Virginia Street.

The Board of Trustees may select the district’s next superintendent after the special board meeting on May 6.

The public is also invited to meet the four superintendent finalists at a community forum on Friday, May 5, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the ChurchillCSD Office at 690 S. Maine Street.

 

The four finalists are:

Blake Cooper

Cooper is currently serving as the principal at Fernley Intermediate School in Fernley, Nevada. He has served in this role since 2021. Before assuming this position, he was a principal at Yerington Elementary School for three years. Cooper has worked in education for 15 years. His teaching experience includes seven years at Veteran Memorial STEM Academy in Washoe County where he taught sixth and second grade. Cooper has a Master of Education Degree in Education Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education, both from the University of Nevada - Reno.

Brandon Moeller

Moeller is currently serving as the Director of the Equity and Diversity Education Department for Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has served in this role since 2018. Before assuming this position, Moeller was the Assistant Director of Instruction and Academic Unit & Safe and Respectful Learning Environment for Clark County School District. He has been working in education for 23 years starting as a K-8 teacher in 2000. Moeller is currently a doctoral student in Educational Policy and Leadership Education Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education. He has a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, all from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

W. Derild Parsons

Derild Parsons is currently serving as the Director of Learning and Innovation for ChurchillCSD in Fallon, Nevada. He has served in this role since 2020. Before assuming this position, Parsons was the Director of Special Services for four years. He has worked for ChurchillCSD for 23 years. His teaching experience includes 11 years at the sixth-grade level and as a special education teacher. Parsons has a Master of Education degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Tim Spencer

Spencer is currently serving as the Principal of Churchill County High School. He has served in this role since 2021. Before assuming this position, he was the principal at Compton Learning Center in Canton, Ohio for three years. Spencer has worked in education for 33 years. His teaching experience includes eight years in K-6 education and four years in secondary education. Spencer has a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Phoenix College, a Master of Arts in Computers in Education from Lesley College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Metropolitan State College of Denver.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
