NDOT Completes Replacement of Maine Street Bridge

NDOT Completes Replacement of Maine Street Bridge

CARSON CITY, Nev. The Nevada Department of Transportation has reopened South Maine Street in Fallon following replacement of a bridge.

A southern portion of South Maine Street just north of Wildes Road (State Route 118) was closed since early December as NDOT replaced the Maine Street bridge crossing the L Line Canal.

The bridge was originally constructed in 1928 as a concrete slab bridge on timber foundations and has been replaced by a 52-footlong reinforced concrete structure. Rock was also placed in the canal to help reduce future erosion. Nearly 2,300 vehicles travel the stretch of Maine Street daily.

The approximately $900,000 project by A&K Earth Movers, Inc. is part of NDOT’s proactive bridge inspection and renovation process that has helped lead Nevada bridges to be named the nation’s best for the past five years. In 2016, NDOT replaced the nearby Harrigan Road bridge also located over the L Line Canal.

State highway information is available at nevadadot.com or by calling (775) 888-7000.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
