Election 2022 – A message from the Churchill County Clerk

Election 2022 – A message from the Churchill County Clerk

Local registered voters recently received a letter from the Office of the Churchill County Clerk/Treasurer with instructions regarding mail ballots. Several voters have expressed concern in confusion, and many have simply thrown away the letter and form.

Do not throw it away.

During the 2021 Legislative Session, Assembly Bill 321 passed, providing for the opportunity for residents to cast their votes by mail. The letter sent out in January from the County Clerk provides instructions for local voters along with the Mail Ballot Preference Form.

Voters do not need to do anything with their letter or form if they are wishing to vote by mail. However, there is the opportunity to opt out of receiving a mail ballot by submitting a mail ballot preference form. Additionally, the form can be used to request that ballots be sent to an address other than the voter’s permanent residence or mailing address.

Voters wishing to opt-out of receiving a mail ballot for future elections should return their ballot preference form to the Clerk’s office as soon as possible. The last day to request to no receive a mail ballot for the 2022 Primary Election is April 15, 2022. The request can be returned in person, by mail, or by email.

Voters who have disposed of their form and since decided they would like to complete one can go in person to the Clerk’s office at 155 N. Taylor and request a new form.

All registered voters in Churchill County may vote in person during the published early voting hours or from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Elections day including anyone who received a mail ballot and have not yet returned it.

All voters are encouraged to confirm their voter registration information at www.registertovotenv.gov. All personal information can be updated including name, address, and party.

For more information, contact the Clerk’s office at 775-423-6028 or [email protected] for any questions regarding the upcoming election or personal voter registration information.

The candidate filing period begins March 7 and runs through March 18. The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 14. Early Voting begins on Saturday, May 28, and runs through Friday, June 10. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8. Early voting will begin on Saturday, October 22, and run through Friday, November 4.

You can also do all of this online! Nevada residents: are you SURE you are registered to vote? Are you SURE you are registered in the party you want to be registered in? Automatic voter registration at the DMV is not reliable.....there are some cases of registrations changing to NAV (non affiliated voter) without the voter's knowledge. Also, you can "opt out" of the mail in ballot and vote in person! All of that can be checked and fixed here (and I advise checking it monthly until the June primary): https://www.nvsos.gov/SOSVoterServices/start.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3XoLwcr8aEAEDDM7kfFq5Wb2EuuHA1R4-IEjNoqve4hW4VuEXwCJb7qSY Click on the "View my Existing Voter Registration", then fill out the form as instructed, then look for a "update mail in ballot" button and follow the instructions. No one has to get a mail in ballot. ALL can vote in person.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
