Obituary -- Betty Ann Bakker

Obituary -- Betty Ann Bakker
Betty Bakker

Betty Ann (Perry) Bakker left this earthly life and into God’s presence on February 7, 2022, at the age of 82.  She was born the 8th child of 10 to Henry and Obera Perry on June 9, 1939.

In 1944, she moved with her family to Waterford, CA where she graduated from Waterford Elementary School and Oakdale High School in 1957.  We heard many stories about her jobs at the fruit drying sheds in Waterford and Campbells Soup in Modesto, CA.  In 1961, she met the love of her life, however, it was not love at first sight. When her sister pulled up for a blind date with John at the lake and Betty saw John, she exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, he’s so ugly take me home”!!  His vibrant personality won her over and they were married on October 14, 1961.

After John and Betty were married, their farming adventures took them from Escalon CA to Patterson & Chowchilla and then the big move to Reese Valley, NV in 1977.  Betty cooked many meals, washed loads of muddy clothes, and even drove the tractor to rake the hay when needed. They sold the farm in 1997 and moved back to Citrus Heights, CA where they purchased a transmission shop. Betty loved living in town and walking in the Sunrise Mall Shopping Mall.  John, however, didn’t like living in town, so in 2007, they moved back to Nevada, settling in Fallon to be near their children.

Betty spent her life dedicated to family, raising four children along with having numerous nieces and nephews around. Going to church on Sunday was important to her and she didn’t like to miss it.  Best known for her tacos, Chile Verde, and pork roast with potatoes and gravy, she had a hot meal on the table three times a day.

She loved her grandchildren and was experiencing the joys of being a great-grandma. She adored them all and loved them so much.

She is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings, Mildred Finch, Tex Perry, Mozelle Miller, baby sister Erma Jean, Wanda Hensley, Tom Perry, and Myrna Stine.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Bakker, son Jeff (Diane) Bakker, daughter Valerie (Bill) Christoph all of Fallon, NV. Son Glenn (Manny) Bakker of Hickman, CA, and daughter Debbie (Alex) VanderStoel of Waterford, CA.  Grandchildren Jeffrey & Justin (Katie) Bakker, Ted, Lindsay, Emily Christoph, Cody (Melissa) Bakker, Sarah (Jesse) White, Chris,  Jolene VanderStoel. Her Great Grandchildren, Elle Bakker, Evan and Melody Bakker, Emerie, Lottie, and Ryker White, and many extended family members.

Services for Betty will be at Parkside Bible Fellowship, 485 Tedford Ln., Fallon, NV  89406 on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11 AM.

Donations can be made to Parkside Bible Fellowship for cross-cultural workers around the world.

Oh Betty you were such a special person, I think of you and your family so very often, all the great memories of our Reese valley days. You were the heart and soul of your family, and best friends anyone could ever ask for. God Bless your family during this very sad time.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
