On Monday, August 2, 2021, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers attempted to stop a silver 2019 Kia Sorento traveling 84 mph in a 55-mph zone on US-95 near Churchill County mile marker 23. The vehicle matched the description from an armed robbery that occurred thirty minutes prior in Hawthorne and had been confirmed as stolen out of Las Vegas. The driver of the Kia failed to yield, drove through side streets in Fallon reaching speeds of 129 mph, and continued westbound wrong way in the eastbound travel lanes between Lyon County mile markers 18 to 16.

The driver lost control of the vehicle at US-50A at the roundabout with SR-828 (Farm District Road) and came to rest on the west side of SR-828. The driver exited and fled from law enforcement on foot into a neighborhood off Parkland Way. Thanks to the assistance from Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies, K9s, and SWAT; Sparks Police Department SWAT; Carson City Sheriff’s Office K-9s; and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K-9s, the driver was apprehended.

The driver, identified as Isaiah Caban (a 38-year-old Las Vegas resident), was arrested on the following charges: felon in possession of a firearm (felony), possession of a stolen vehicle (felony), eluding (felony), reckless driving (misdemeanor), passing on the right (misdemeanor), driving left of center (misdemeanor), duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving property damage (misdemeanor), driving with a revoked license (misdemeanor), possession of paraphernalia (misdemeanor), a warrant out of Arizona for armed robbery with a deadly weapon (felony), and a warrant out of California for kidnapping (felony). Caban was booked into the Churchill County jail.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
