NDOT Project on S. Maine Nears Completion

NDOT Project on S. Maine Nears Completion
by Meg Ragonese, NDOT -- Nevada Department of Transportation, (NDOT) is nearing completion of a project to replace an aging bridge on South Maine Street crossing the L Line Canal in Fallon. A southern portion of South Maine Street just north of Wildes Road (State Route 118) has been closed since early December as NDOT replaces the aging Maine Street bridge. Through traffic has been detoured via nearby local roads, with local access available for residents accessing Wood Drive from the north. The bridge was originally constructed in 1928 as a concrete slab bridge on timber foundations and is being replaced by a 52-foot long reinforced concrete structure. The new concrete bridge structure and bridge railings have been installed. Grading work is currently taking place to grade the new roadway surface over the bridge. The bridge’s roadway surface will then be paved, and South Maine Street anticipated to reopen within a month. Nearly 2,300 vehicles travel the stretch of Maine Street daily. The approximately $900,000 project, contracted by A&K Earth Movers, Inc., is part of NDOT’s proactive bridge inspection and renovation process that has helped lead Nevada bridges to be named the nation’s best for the past five years. In 2016, NDOT replaced the nearby Harrigan Road bridge also located over the L Line Canal.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
