Local Eight Year Old Turning Heads on Racetrack

Local Eight Year Old Turning Heads on Racetrack
by -- Elijah Jones Fallon’s own Corbin Seay has been making a name for himself recently on local dirt bullrings around Nevada and California. He has even traveled as far as Missoula, Montana to compete in the Big Sky Shootout, a race that is held every July 4th weekend. This season has been a breakout year for the young driver and he looks to continue to improve every time he hits the race track. Corbin got his start in motorsports when he was just six years of age. Thanks to some local drivers in the Fallon area, he was able to get into a kart that showed his drive and determination to win. Although he would love to say that his favorite local track was in Fallon, he actually learned the most early on while in the kart program in Battle Mountain with Angela Gonzalez. Once his parents Troy and Shelbe realized how dedicated Corbin was to his racing they decided that it would be better for Corbin to race against the top competition in the country. In Northern California, outlaw kart racing is alive and well. It is regarded as the most competitive area in the entire country when it comes to outlaw kart competition. Professional drivers like NASCAR Superstars Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick and Matt DiBenedetto all got their start in racing while behind the wheel of an outlaw kart in Northern California. The first time the team showed up to a race in California was at the Cycleland Speedway, which is located just 14 miles south of Chico, CA on State Route 99. Corbin was in an underfunded and underpromoted kart. That is how he initially made a name for himself. He took that lesser equipment and started beating kids that were in top of the line equipment. He learned a lot racing on the big track at Cycleland but there was so much more left to learn. Every October the Cycleland Speedway schedule ends and the Red Bluff Outlaws schedule begins. The Red Bluff Outlaws are an indoor outlaw kart sanction. The races are held inside the Pauline Davis Pavilion on the Tehama District Fairgrounds in Red Bluff, CA which is 45 minutes north of Chico. The racetrack constructed inside the pavilion is much smaller and tighter than Cycleland and requires drivers to use precision and raw talent in order to be competitive. In late 2017, early 2018 Corbin competed in his first full Red Bluff Outlaws season. He would finish 7th in the Points Standings and earned three Top Five finishes, including a fifth place finish in the West Coast Nationals which is one of the most prestigious outlaw kart races in the country. As mentioned above, Corbin has competed in some of the biggest outlaw kart races in the country over the last couple of years and he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. The Red Bluff Outlaws just concluded their 2018/19 season and Corbin had his best season to date. He scored two Main Event Victories, including the prestigious Tyler Wolf Memorial in October. He also had a pair of second place finishes and one third place finish in twelve races. He was also the only driver in the Beginner Box Stock Class to qualify for every Main Event up until the last race of the season. He would finish the season in the 5th spot in the Championship Points Standings. Corbin and his dad Troy just finished putting together a brand new kart as they prepare for the West Coast Nationals taking place March 15th-17th in Red Bluff, CA. Corbin’s parents Troy and Shelbe are the owners of FIXXED Automotive and appreciate all the local support they can get in their business. The more support they get there the further they can help take Corbin to get him to the top level. Without the help and support of friends, family and sponsors Corbin would not be able to accomplish what he has so far and what he strives to accomplish in the future. He would like to thank his family at Fallon Glass and Sign, Skip and Lou Carrica, his uncles and Jay Morgan at Morgan Construction, Rory and Laura Forbes, his Grandparents Terry and Sheri Hall and Sheldon’s Pest Control. Everyone involved in this young drivers racing career are extremely proud of what he has accomplished in such a short time. Corbin recently also picked up two other sponsors, Twin City Surplus in Reno and Carson KTM. The West Coast Nationals in which Corbin is competing in this weekend will be broadcast on MAVtv at a later date. He would love to have some more local support as he competes this weekend and in the future. If you would like to watch him race live this weekend you can tune in to www.fastfourmedia.com where they will be live streaming the event. Comment author: Patti Cole Comment text: Marie will be forever treasured in memories. The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
