We Have a Tree -- It Will Have Lights

We Have a Tree -- It Will Have Lights
City crews put up the Christmas Tree on Saturday, November 21st

The tree is up -- the traditional Fallon signal that it is now the holiday season! In spite of all we've gone through this year, some things do not change, and the days we hold special cannot be cancelled.

Although no official message has come from the City of Fallon regarding the annual Tree Lighting event, for the past seventy-one years the tree has been lit on the first Friday night in December at 6:00 p.m., which this year falls on December 4th.

Because of Governor Sisolak's COVID directives, expect the city hall and Douglass House tours and receptions to be cancelled. Members of the public who chose to be on Maine Street Friday night, should be aware of social distancing and normal preventative measures against getting sick.

Just call the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony a protest. No Democrat governor has been opposed to that!!!!

Comment author: Patti Cole Comment text: Marie will be forever treasured in memories. The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses. Her dad Ted was my dad's brother. I never knew Ted or Betty, but I wish I did. I am 73 and live in IL. I am building my family tree and see where Betty has fit in. Blessings to you Curt and family.
