Watch the Super Bowl at the Fallon Theatre 3:00 p.m.
The Fallon Theatre is open today and will broadcast the Super Bowl LIII at 3:00 p.m. on the big screen.  Admission is free, the concession stand will be open, and beer and wine will be available for a donation. Last week at the Fallon Theatre, The UNR Alumni -- Fallon Chapter, hosted the Nevada Men's Basketball vs. UNLV basketball game live on the big screen, with over 65 people attending.  Stuart Richardson is involved wiht the Fallon Community Theatre group that has purchased and is restoring the theatre. "The Fallon Community Theatre group is so excited about the reception to playing the UNR/UNLV game on the big screen at the Historic Fallon Theatre," said Richardson. "It's just wonderful, any time we have this much response we are really pleased." Truly a community project and labor of love, the Fallon Community Theatre group has gone to extensive work over the past few years to slowly restore the theatre using all volunteer efforts. Glen Perazzo, who runs the theater department at Churchill County High School, along with Nancy Upham, Quinn Nuffer, and Yvonne Sutherland fixed up the marquee and overhang.  The project included removing pigeon guano build-up, repairing damaged tracks and Plexiglas, painting, welding as well as replacing light bulbs, marquee letters and the overhang’s chandeliers. The re-covering project for the 105 seats in the lower theatre was completed in May 2015.   The seats also were inspected for loose springs and missing pins.  There are 107 seats in the upper house which have been re-covered as well. Denim jeans were donated by community members and used for the seat covers.  Karla Kent and Glen Perazzo figured out how to trace and cut a pattern to get the two pieces of denim for each seat.  The two pieces were then sewn together by the local quilting club to make the seat cover itself.   Others cut new foam pieces and reassembled the seats. Two Eagle Scout projects resulted in repaired walls in the theaters themselves.  Thomas Jamieson and his crew took down all the burlap that had lined the walls for years and gave the walls and extensive washing. Orin Summer, with his group of helpers then came in and painted all the walls. There is a display hanging on the north wall of the theatre foyer that shows the progress of the restoration project. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
