County Parks and Recreation Reopening Plans

As we enter Phase 2 of the State of Nevada’s reopening plan on Friday, May 29, Churchill County Parks & Recreation wants to keep the public informed of the status of its facilities and programs.

For specific questions you may have on any of these listings, please contact Parks & Recreation Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (775) 423-7733.

Facilities -- Facilities that are currently open with social distancing guidelines in place (remain six feet apart from one another as possible):

  • Tennis court
  • Outdoor basketball court
  • Liberty Pond & Dog Park
  • Athletic Fields (public use – groups of 50 or fewer)
  • Green Arena (public use – groups of 50 or fewer)
  • Multi-Purpose Building, Dry Gulch, Picnic Pavilion and Green Arena are available for rent to groups of 50 or fewer. Contact the Parks and Recreation for rental information.
  • Main Rodeo Arena – closed to public; contact the office regarding usage for special events.
  • Churchill Aquatic Center – opens Monday, June 1 at 50 percent capacity. Contact the Aquatic Center at (775)423-7091 for hours of operation.

 

Program updates

SUMFUN Summer Day Camp -- Opens Monday, June 1 and operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Contact Parks and Recreation for registration forms. Campers must be 6-years-old or have completed one year in a group classroom setting.

Fitness Boot Camp -- Resumes Monday, June 1 at the City-County Gymnasium on Venturacci Lane and runs from 5-6 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All interested participants welcome.

Dog Obedience Classes -- Sessions are currently scheduled and running. Visit the Parks and Recreation website for current and future dates and times.

Boots and Britches -- The Boots and Britches summer events will be happening on Thursday evenings. Dates are being finalized and will be available soon. See website for updates.

Youth Volleyball Camp -- Open to children in 4th through 7th grades and runs July 21 – 23 at the City-County Gym on Venturacci Lane. Cost is $50 per participant and registration is now open.

Youth Football and Cheer Camp -- Open to children ages 5 through 14 for football and ages 5 and up for cheerleading. Runs July 27 through 31 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per participant. Location and registration to be announced soon.

Dust Devil Triathlon -- Saturday, August 1 at the Churchill Aquatic Center. Registration now open.

Youth Martial Arts -- Martial Arts classes will be scheduled and resuming soon.

Programs closed or cancelled at this time

Junior Lifeguard Program and Staff Start Counselor Program are not currently scheduled and the Summer Stampede Duathlon is cancelled.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
