Governor Says He Will Extend Stay at Home Order

Sisolak to address the State on Thursday while Assembly Republicans push to reopen Nevada’s economy
Governor Says He Will Extend Stay at Home Order

Governor Sisolak took to the national airwaves this morning on Good Morning America to discuss Nevada’s response to COVID-19. “we’re going to ease some of the restrictions we had earlier as it relates to retail curbside pickup, some of our outdoor activities and loosen up some of our restrictions. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to extend the stay at home order a little bit because we just have not reached exactly where we want to get on the downward trajectory.”

Sisolak is expected to address the state tomorrow and present his “Nevada United Roadmap to Recovery” strategy for reopening the state.

Meanwhile, The Assembly Republican Caucus sent a request to reopen Nevada’s economy to the governor, saying, “Nevadans are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of definitive timelines or an overall direction for our state’s plans.

While the original purpose of the COVID-19 shutdown was to flatten the curve and avoid overwhelming the state’s healthcare system, now that the objectives have been met, Assembly Republicans say the time has come to start getting Nevadans safely back to work.

“A second healthcare crisis is about to come to our state,” said Republican Assembly Leader, Dr. Robin Titus. “Practices and hospitals have been economically overwhelmed because they have not been able to treat most patients outside of those affected by the COVID-19, resulting in a major departure of normal revenue streams for our healthcare providers.” Not unlike other small businesses across the state, “many of those private practices are going to be forced to shut down,” she said, “further straining our already vulnerable healthcare system and patient access to care.

“Nevadans are suffering,” said Assemblyman Glen Leavitt. “If the small business owners and their employees are not allowed to get back to work soon, our economy will never recover. Our rural counties have seen much lower numbers of infections and should be able to open at a swifter rate. A one-size-fits-all solution will not work. All businesses are essential to Nevada’s economy and if they can operate safely, in accordance with CDC guidelines, we should allow them to do so. If Governor Sisolak is slow to act, it will have an irreversible effect on Nevada’s economy.”

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
