No Bail for Lattin

No Bail for Lattin
Staff report --  Wes Lattin, charged with sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, appeared in the Tenth Judicial District Court on Tuesday, March 24th for a status hearing where Judge Tom Stockard continued his no hold bail. He was accompanied by his defense attorney Charles Woodman. Lattin was originally charged in 2003 for the sexual assault of a child under the age of 16, as well as three counts of open and gross lewdness. When that trial was under way, in August of 2005, Lattin disappeared, going on the lam for 15 years. He was arrested February 21, 2020 after the Churchill County Sheriff investigated a report that Lattin was living in an underground bunker on the property of his sister, Becky Humphrey, four miles north of Fallon on Tarzyn Road. Stockard heard from the parties regarding both cases, the sexual assault as well as the failure to appear. Both the prosecution, represented by Deputy District Attorney Chelsea Sanford, and Woodman for Lattin, agreed that Stockard could be fair and impartial in both cases. Judge Stockard was a prosecutor at the District Attorney's Office when the case was originally filed in 2005. During the hearing, Lattin was notified of the penalties for his crimes.
  • Count 1: Sexual Assault on a Child Under the Age of 16 Years Without Substantial Bodily Harm, pursuant to NRS 200.366(1)/200.366(3)(b), imprisonment in the state prison:
    • (1) For life with the possibility of parole, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 20 years has been served; or
    • (2) For a definite term of 20 years, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 5 years has been served.
  • Count 2, 3, and 4: Open and Gross Lewdness, pursuant to NRS 201.210(1)(a) imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 1 year, and/or a fine of not more than $2,000
Woodman requested a three-week continuance for another status hearing prior to setting the trial, as he feels the parties can reach a resolution in both matters. Sanford agreed, and also noted for the record that Lattin has still not been arraigned on the failure to appear. Stockard stated that the no bail hold would remain and set the matter for a Status Hearing on April 14, 2020 at 9:30 am.         We need your support now more than ever -- as our small business community is hit, so is our advertising support -- if you are able to support local, independent news, now is the time to click here to contribute to The Fallon Post, so we can continue to bring you up-to-the-minute information. They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
