State Resources to Help During Shutdown

State Resources to Help During Shutdown
Staff report -- Governor Steve Sisolak effectively shut down the state of Nevada last night in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19. The following links are to the state agencies that may be of help during this time. Please share them with those you know who may be affected and need them. Not everyone is on social media -- especially our busy and elderly populations. For those who become layed off or unemployed due to the shutdown, contact the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to complete paperwork online: www.detr.nv.gov For small business owners who are suffering closures or impacts from the shut down, the Small Business Administration has a special low-interest disaster loan program. Access all the information here: disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/ For health information, the Department of Health very useful, up to date information on the COVID-19 situation here: http://dhhs.nv.gov/ the state also has a one-stop page for food stamps, medical, and in some cases cash assistance: https://accessnevada.dwss.nv.gov/public/landing-page The Nevada 2-1-1 website also offers a one-stop resource that is very extensive and gathers contact information for an extensive array of assistance from housing, health, veterans, mental health, senior services, and more. Find them here: https://www.nevada211.org/ Locally our Churchill County social services office can be reached at 775-423-6695 and they are extremely knowledgable and helpful.       Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
