Filing Closes – 12 Candidates for 4 Offices
by Rachel Dahl --  Filing for local offices in the 2020 election closed Friday at 5:00 p.m. with a total of 12 community members vying for four different positions. A primary election will be held on June 9th for both county commission seats, and the school board candidates will face off in the general election on November 3rd. Mosquito Abatement had one candidate file but had two open seats. As a special district, the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District holds their own election and filing for three positions on the board of directors is open now and will close March 18th. The Fallon Post and Lahontan Valley News will hold a candidates’ night in late May for the community to meet the candidates, hear their positions on issues, and be able to ask questions.
