UNR Alumni – Fallon Chapter raises money for scholarships
The UNR Alumni Fallon Chapter raises money each year to fund scholarships for local students. For the third year in a row the group held their Italian Dinner Party and raised just over $4,000. dinner party to raise money for scholarships. Over 80 people attended the event which included a silent auction and raffle. There were donations from PJ & Co., Squeeze Inn, Jo's Tea Room, The Nugget in Sparks, Mt. Rose Ski Resort, Getto Subs, The Depot, and personal donations by members all helped to raise $1200 through the Silent Auction. In addition, there were 20 cooks, servers, and helpers, including the young alumni.  Mark Venturacci made over 1,600 raviolis and fried zucchini, Michele Berney made the salads and dessert, and Bert Stephens provided the entertainment as the DJ with dinner music followed by dancing. This event will provide for three $1,000 scholarships this year, last year there were only two. The group is now looking forward to more fun with Wolf Pack fans on the booster bus for the UNR vs. UNLV game November 30, and the Golf Tournament on March 28 with more donated items from Dayton Valley Turf, the Aces baseball, 1868 Soccer, In-n-Out, and more.                   To get involved with the UNR Alumni, contact Brenda Boone at [email protected].     Sign up to receive updates and the Friday File email notices. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
