On Tuesday, December 9, families and friends of Veritas Preparatory School gathered at Parkside Bible Fellowship for the school’s annual Advent Night - a meaningful evening of worship, reflection, and student presentations celebrating the coming of Christ.
The program featured Advent presentations from every class, offering a rich and reverent journey through the Advent story. Students from the youngest grades through the upper school shared songs, recitations, and reflections highlighting the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love.
Each presentation focused on a different aspect of Advent, tracing God’s promises from the Old Testament prophets to their fulfillment in the birth of Jesus. This year’s theme, “The Music and Art of Advent,” guided the evening, with each class centering its presentation on a specific artistic work or musical composition that reflected the Advent story.
Among the featured performances, Mrs. Buller’s 2nd-grade class sang “Joy to the World” in Latin. Mrs. Pustovrh’s 5th- and 6th-grade students presented a retelling of “The Bells on Christmas Day,” a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Ms. Behimer’s 7th- and 8th-grade class recreated “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci, presenting both a dramatic reenactment and a visual rendering of the iconic artwork. Kindergarten 4 and Kindergarten 5 students combined their efforts to tell the story of the greatest gift of all - the birth of baby Jesus.
“Advent Night is one of the most special evenings of the year for our school,” said Headmaster Jill Rosario. “It’s a beautiful reminder that our students are not just learning about the Christmas story - they are proclaiming it.”
Parents and grandparents looked on proudly as each class contributed to the evening, creating a unified program that reflected Veritas's shared mission: to cultivate wisdom, character, and faith through Christ-centered education. The evening concluded with the entire sanctuary - students, parents, and guests alike - raising their voices together to sing “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.”
Following the presentations, families adjourned to the Fellowship Hall for cookies and conversation. The evening ended with joyful fellowship, leaving students and families with a lasting reminder of the true meaning of the Christmas season.
Advent Night is more than a performance - it is an act of worship and a time of fellowship for the Veritas community. The program concluded with a reminder that Advent is a season of waiting and hope, pointing not only to Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, but also to His promised return.
