Allison’s Book Report: “Grace and Henry’s Holiday Movie Marathon” By Matthew Norman

Allison’s Book Report: “Grace and Henry’s Holiday Movie Marathon” By Matthew Norman

This week, I have a perfect holiday read for you to cuddle up and devour in one sitting! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll laugh some more!  So go ahead – get into your holiday jammies, pour a glass of wine or a cup of cocoa, get under your coziest blanket, and get ready to get lost in a great holiday movie-themed second chance at love romance!

Matthew Norman’s Grace and Henry’s Holiday Movie Marathon is a heartwarming story that proves even the darkest winter can lead to a beautiful spring - or in this case, a cozy Christmas. Grace White and Henry Adler are two people linked by a “Great and Terrible Sadness”: the loss of their spouses within the same year. As the first holiday season without their partners approaches, neither is ready to move on, despite their well-meaning, meddling mothers’ attempts to set them up. While resisting the push for romance, Grace and Henry quickly realize they are the only two people who truly understand each other’s grief, and a genuine, supportive friendship begins to bloom.

The catalyst for their unexpected bond is a Christmas movie marathon. For Henry, it was a treasured tradition with his late wife, Brynn. To help him through the challenging ritual, Grace, a bar owner and mother of two charming young kids, offers to join the viewing. What starts as a way to honor a memory slowly becomes a new, shared tradition. As they move through the iconic holiday classics, surrounded occasionally by Grace’s children, the heavy weight of their individual sorrows begins to lift.

Through their shared laughter, understanding, and, yes, a few emotional moments over the movies, Grace and Henry start to glimpse a future beyond their loss. Their connection grows into something more profound than mere companionship. But as they draw closer, the looming question of whether they are genuinely ready for a “second chance at love” - or if their bond is simply a result of shared circumstances leaves them uncertain.

Grace and Henry’s Holiday Movie Marathon is a poignant, sweet, and often funny tale that balances the real ache of grief with the irresistible, hopeful magic of the holiday season, ultimately asking if they have found a love worth taking a chance on all over again.

I know that the holiday is coming up fast, and we are all running around trying to get it all done – but I genuinely hope that you get a minute to enjoy this week's pick. I loved this one, and I know you will. Don't forget to pop over to my Instagram @allison.the.reader for more bookish fun!

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
