Community Reunion Weekend at the Fallon Theatre

Fallon’s Community Reunion weekend has come back around, and we’re thrilled to be part of the celebration as always. Join us at the Fallon Theatre for two days of hometown fun featuring free movies, live music, and a special open house. We’ve got something for everyone right here on Maine Street.

This Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., join us for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013). In this animated adventure, inventor Flint Lockwood must return to his island to stop his food-creating machine, which is now churning out wild food-animal hybrids like tacodiles and shrimpanzees. It’s a colorful, silly ride that kids and grownups alike will enjoy. Rated PG, it runs 1 hour and 35 minutes.

On Friday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m., enjoy a free live concert featuring the Great Basin Band. Back by popular demand, this local crowd-favorite group will light up the stage with a fun mix of country, rock and pop hits from the ’80s to today as a dynamic kick-off to the Community Reunion weekend.

Then on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., we’ll be showing The Alamo (1960), the sweeping historical epic starring John Wayne, Richard Widmark and Laurence Harvey. Set during the 1836 battle for Texas independence, this classic film blends action, drama and patriotic spirit in a larger-than-life retelling of a defining moment in American history. It runs 2 hours and 42 minutes.

Also, don’t forget to stop by during our open house on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our team will offer guided tours, share the history of this beloved landmark and give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we bring movies and events to life. We’d love to show you around and celebrate the role this theatre continues to play in our community.

Ready to run — or walk — for a great cause? Join us for the Fallon Theatre’s Cantaloupe Canter 5K on Saturday, Aug. 23, part of the Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair weekend. The race kicks off at 8 a.m. at 333 Sheckler Road, with check-in open from 7 to 7:50 a.m. Register early for $25, or $30 on race day. Sign up by Aug. 13 to guarantee your official event T-shirt. Whether you’re aiming for a new personal best or just enjoying a scenic morning stroll, your participation supports the continued growth and rehabilitation of the historic Fallon Theatre building. Register at fallontheatre.com or in person at Kent’s Supply Center.

Looking ahead, David Hayes – Master Showman takes the stage on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. This family-friendly evening is packed with music, comedy and variety-style fun, all performed by one incredibly talented entertainer. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Our annual fundraising Show ’N’ Shine rolls into downtown on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free, family-friendly event features classic cars, live music, food and more. Registration is open now for anyone who wants to show off their ride — sign up at fallontheatre.com.

After a morning of classic cars and live music at our Show ’N’ Shine, return to the Fallon Theatre that evening at 7 p.m. for a special performance of live classical music. We’re partnering with the Toiyabe Chamber Music Society to present The ‘Not-So-Lonely’ Illustrated Concert Series, featuring the return of the Toiyabe Trio: Dustin Budish on viola, Aaron Hill on oboe and Emily Barnes on harp. This ensemble will perform alongside projected images, creating a rich, multi-sensory experience. Admission is a suggested $5 donation.

Set sail with us Oct. 3 and 4 for a Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl 4D weekend, sponsored by Huck Salt. Experience immersive effects like mist, scent, vibrations and flashing lights at our 6 p.m. screenings, or opt for the 7 p.m. showings without effects. Live character appearances, themed treats and swashbuckling fun are included. Reservations are open now on our website for a small fee.

In November, we’ve got two great live shows. On Friday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m., Nashville comedian Lee Hardin returns to our stage with his sharp, clean humor and relatable stories. Tickets are $20. Then on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m., River Rogue takes the stage for a free concert. This high-energy cover band from Schurz, Fallon and Carson City blends country, rock and blues.

As always, movie screenings at the Fallon Theatre are free, and the concession stand is stocked. To rent the theatre or put a special message on our marquee, call 775-423-6210 or email [email protected].

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon ManComment author: Pam BitschenauerComment text: Ken, thank you for your kind words about Scott our "Mellon Man". My husband and I used to visit with Scott quite often when we lived in Fallon and then whenever we had the chance to as we passed through town. He was truly a good person and will be sorely missed.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 3:15 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
