Allison’s Book Report

Author: Allison Diegel

I’m not getting much reading done this week because I’m writing this Book Report from beautiful Athens, Greece! We just arrived yesterday afternoon, and there’s already so much to see. The food is wonderful, the people are warm and friendly, and they’ve been incredibly patient with clueless first-time visitors like me.

Greece is such an interesting blend of ancient and modern, as well as European and Middle Eastern influences. I can’t wait to do more exploring this week. It’s a little hard to wrap your mind around just how old parts of the city are, and it’s fascinating to see so many famous historical sites and ruins nestled right in the middle of a bustling city.

Also—there are cats. Lots of them. Well-fed, very friendly stray cats seem to be everywhere, which makes this cat lady squeal with delight as I stop to visit with every single one!

Next week I’ll be back on track as your friendly neighborhood book lady with a fresh new book review. In the meantime, here are some pictures from our first 24 hours in Athens.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
