More than 200 competitors gathered at Rafter 3C in Fallon this month for the 2026 Fastest Gun Alive World Championship, making it the largest championship in the event's history.
Competitors traveled from across the country to compete for world championship titles while reconnecting with friends and fellow shooters during the weeklong event.
Alotta Lead, also known as Dinah Eilrich, Cowboy Fast Draw Association operations, clubs, and events director, said the event attracted both longtime competitors and newcomers.
"With many returning competitors, new Fastest Gun Alive participants, and first-time event members, there were more than 200 entries," she said. "Making 2026 the biggest Fastest Gun Alive in history while celebrating America's 250th anniversary."
With match headquarters at the Holiday Inn Express, along with six other motels, the 906 House bed-and-breakfast, Airbnbs, and RV spaces at the Churchill County Fairgrounds, the championship brought visitors to Fallon throughout the week, providing a boost to local businesses.
The event also featured returning and new vendors, Sissy's BBQ, and a Classic Cruisers car show, giving competitors, their families, and local residents activities beyond the shooting competition.
Championship titles went to "Sniper" in the youth division, "Dead-Eye Daisy" in the women's division with a winning time of .0414, and "Whitlock" in the men's division with a winning time of .0314.
For many competitors, the championship is as much about fellowship as it is about competition. Local restaurants, hotels, campgrounds, and businesses welcomed visitors throughout the week, while volunteers helped make Fallon a destination for Cowboy Fast Draw enthusiasts from across the country.
The Cowboy Fast Draw Association plans to return to Rafter 3C in 2027 for another Fastest Gun Alive World Championship.
