Mapping Workshops for Water Rights Owners

Mapping Workshops for Water Rights Owners
The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Division of Water Resources has completed revisions to Phases 1 through 5 of the Newlands Project Water Rights Mapping Project. Workshops are scheduled to assist water rights owners to review the mapping of their water rights for correctness. If owners feel their water rights are incorrectly represented, a Request for Revision form and supporting documentation may be submitted to NDWR no later than September 30, 2019. According to Rusty Jardine, General Manager of the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District, this project started through funding given to the State of Nevada by by the Bureau of Reclamation make more accurate water right mapping records. "Initially, the fear was that the project would result in some water right holders actually losing rights," said Jardine. While there have been instances in which rights have been diminished, such instances are relatively small and justified.  The promise of the project was not to take rights away; rather, the object was to provide needed-solid documentation of existing rights and eliminate discrepancies –with the use of best available technologies, comprehensive title searching, and a lot of feet on the ground surveying. "The meetings allow water right holders to discuss issues and present, where possible, evidence sustaining any rights in question," he said. Newlands Project Water Rights Mapping results and forms to request a revision are available for review at http://water.nv.gov, located under the Programs listings. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
