The City of Fallon is known across the state as the “Oasis of Nevada,” and that place in our Northern Nevada culture has been cemented by the reputation of Fallon as an “Oasis” of small-town Christmas spirit.

In keeping with that spirit and its reputation as THE place for Holiday Magic, the City of Fallon kicked off the holiday season last Saturday with the opening of the Fallon on Ice Skating Rink. As the official launch of the Christmas Season, the city opened the ice rink in anticipation of holiday festivities for the 2025 season. The city will be hosting its ice rink, Fallon on Ice, for a second year, as well as its annual holiday open house and tree lighting ceremony.

November 16 marked opening day, with the rink south of the Douglass House at 10 S. Carson Street. To celebrate the opening of the rink’s second year, the community was invited to gather for free and celebrate at 11 a.m. with unique craft booths, local food trucks, and festive activities for the entire family.

“We are incredibly proud to bring the Fallon community together through a shared love of the holiday season,” said Mayor Ken Tedford. “With the ice rink returning for its second year, we hope even more families will come out to create lasting, cherished memories.”

Special discounts and events will be offered on specific days throughout the skating season, including:

Annual Christmas Open House and Tree Lighting

The City of Fallon is also making plans for the ever-favorite annual Christmas Open House on December 6 at 4:30 p.m. The event, hosted by Mayor Ken Tedford, Councilwoman Kelly Frost, Councilwoman Karla Kent, and Councilman Paul Harmon, will be a lively environment for the community to gather and enjoy refreshments, cookie decorating, and good tidings. The festivities will be located at Fallon City Hall and The Douglass House, followed by Fallon’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, held at 6:30 p.m. Come to the city’s historic downtown Maine Street to witness the tree lighting at the epicenter of Fallon.

“The Fallon City Council and I are eager to invite our community and visitors to this year’s holiday festivities,” said Mayor Ken Tedford. “We look forward to celebrating the good tidings with loved ones and hope everyone will join in on the Christmas delight these celebrations have to offer.”

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
