CCMS (above): Staff and students nominated Kathryn Buckmaster and Lilia Marquez as the Gerka staff of the week. The students nominated Buckmaster. One student said, “I think Ms. Buckmaster deserves to be Gerka Staff of the Week because she's super sweet, helps her students when needed, and is super funny.” Marquez was Staff nominated by CCMS staff. One staff member said, “She has such a fabulous relationship with the students and knows how to handle difficult situations with grace and understanding.” On behalf of CCMS staff and students, thank you, to Buckmaster and Marquez for making the school a great place to learn and work.

CCHS (Below): Watching the season kickoff with other Northern Nevada teams made the First Robotic Competition Junk Bots excited for what is to come. “Our creativity, ideas, and enthusiasm have been sparked, and we are ready to start building,” CCHS Robotics Advisor Stephanie Kille-Reese said. The CCHS Robotics Teams competed in the first Tech Challenge League Meet at Excel Christian School in December. After some tense scrimmages, the CCHS teams Green Bandits ranked 4th, and Silent Soul ranked 6th in the leaguelearn and work.

Numa (below): At an all-school assembly, students were recognized for perfect attendance from October through December, and 4th-grade SOAR students for the 2nd quarter were also recognized and rewarded with the ‘Red Carpet’ and a lunch table with special treats. Teachers choose two students from their class each quarter who consistently demonstrate Numa’s SOAR motto: Safe School, Outstanding Character, Academic Achievement, and Respect for Self and Others. These students are then recognized and rewarded for their outstanding commitment to demonstrating the school motto.

E.C. Best (below): Last week, students attended a Zoom virtual assembly for The Kids Heart Challenge, sponsored by The American Heart Association. ECB is proud to support the AHA and help kids with special hearts. Its Kids Heart Challenge program has started. “I have taken the Principal Challenge to help our school earn extra givebacks. When 50% of our students register, and we raise our first $1,000 in life-saving donations, our school will earn a bonus of $500 for PE and recess equipment,” Principal Keith Boone said. Families can register today at heart.org/schools.

Lahontan (below): First-grade students in Stacey Manning’s class spent last week learning about Martin Luther King Jr. Manning read books about him and his actions for our country and civil rights. Students also watched parts of his "I Have a Dream" speech. Then, the students wrote about King and his dream. “They loved learning about him and had many good questions and thoughts when it came to his work. It sparked some great conversation in our classroom,” Manning said.

Comment author: EvaComment text: Grandpa, I find myself wondering about you every so often. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking. I am Kelly’s sister, Charlene B Johnson and his daughter is Trisha Benjamin. The Fallon Tribal Police acted unconscionably by not notifying the family first. This is devastating for us especially after speaking a little bit with the officer handling the report and The Chief Juarez. Who refused to give me any further details or to at least let me know the FBI was notified and that they were investigating if my brothers death was foul play or not. My understanding is the FBI is called when a body is found. Tribal Chairwoman please do the family a solid and make sure the finding of my brother was due to suspicious circumstances.Comment publication date: 3/24/26, 1:55 PMComment source: Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe Reports Death Under InvestigationComment author: Nicole GalbraithComment text: Farren - I just saw that you aren’t here with us. I am completely in shock! I met you and hung out with you so many years ago with Jer, and Eden. I honestly can’t believe you are gone…..you were a wonderful human being, with a HUGE heart and soul. Hearing this makes my heart break! You are forever in our hearts, and I can say I feel blessed that I was able to know you! Rest easy sweet Farren xoxoComment publication date: 3/23/26, 12:30 PMComment source: Obituary- Farren Crossland
