Allison's Book Report: "Part of Your World” by Abby Jimenez

Allison Diegel is the Executive Chaos Coordinator at the Diegel Home for Wayward Girls and Their Many Pets here in her hometown of Fallon. She has been reading since before she could talk, and now she likes doing lots of both. This week's fun-filled selection is "Part of Your World.”

Where are my fellow rom-com lovers? I have strayed from our favorite genre in this column for a couple of weeks, but never fear. I'm back with some hot and spicy, laugh-out-loud funny, solid romantic comedy gold.

“Part of Your World” by Abby Jimenez is not her most recent book, but it was too good not to share. Dr. Alexis Montgomery is fresh out of a relationship with a total jerk who continues to make her life miserable. She is a disappointment to her ultra-wealthy surgeon parents because she's a “mere" emergency room doctor. Alexis' world gets more complicated after a chance meeting with a ridiculously hot carpenter named Daniel Grant. Daniel's life couldn't be more different than Alexis’ sophisticated city-girl existence. He lives in a quaint little tourist town, runs an adorable bed and breakfast, builds and repairs furniture in his shop, makes a fantastic gourmet grilled cheese, and is the caretaker of a baby goat in pajamas. Complicated as it may be – and try as she might to “keep it casual" between them – the chemistry absolutely crackles between them, and eventually, Alexis has some decisions to make. Letting their relationship become anything more than just a fling would mean turning her back on her family and the plans that they have laid out for her and the life she's built for herself. Bringing Daniel into her world seems impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him, either. With so many differences, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

There is so much to love about this book. I loved city-girl Alexis navigating Daniel's small-town life. Within the first few pages, she is thrown directly into the fire – wait – scratch that – she is thrown directly into the mud by a rogue pot-bellied pig, ruining her dress and making for a mortifying “walk of shame" the day after their meeting. Honestly, this is just the beginning of a hilarious, sexy book you will love.

I am traveling this week, so I took in most of the story via audiobook. I can't leave out how great the narrators were on this one. The book switches back and forth between Alexis’ and Daniel's points of view, and the two readers are perfect. If you listen to many audiobooks, you will recognize Julia Whelan’s voice immediately - she's the queen of audiobooks - and Zachary Webber is a perfect Daniel.

As I mentioned above, this is not author Abby Jimenez’s most recent release – but lucky for me and other lovers of “Part of Your World,” her most recent one, “Yours Truly,” is about Alexis' bestie, Bri. It's so much fun when authors build a little world with their books by weaving together multiple stories that could technically stand alone. Keep reading, and come and tell me what you think over on Instagram @allison.the.reader, where I am always rambling and reading

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
