NDOT released information today regarding travel delays and lane closures will be in place on U.S. 95 south of Fallon beginning Aug. 22 as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces to improve and preserve the highway.
Drivers should anticipate single lane closures with travel delays of up to 30 minutes between 6 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays on U.S. 95 from Sheckler Road to 10 miles south of Fallon.
Traffic delays should be expected as a pilot car alternates directions of traffic through the work zone during the following dates:
• Aug. 22-25
• Aug. 30-31
• Sept. 8-15
Speed limits as low as 45 mph will be advised through the work zone. Motorists should drive at posted work zone speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions.
The road work schedule is subject to change.
Using the chip seal resurfacing method, a layer of new asphalt and roadway gravel will be placed and sealed with a layer of oil. Often considered the best value for road maintenance dollar, the chip seal will restore roadway surface friction and aesthetics on the highway.

SAFE WORK ZONE DRIVING TIPS
- Always buckle up.
- Pay attention. Normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed, and people and vehicles may be working near the road.
- Always slow to posted work zone speed limits.
