Farmers, Freedom & Fireworks

Farmers, Freedom & Fireworks

The City of Fallon, The Fallon Chamber of Commerce, and Churchill County Parks & Recreation Department are proud to sponsor the July 4 extravaganza with this year’s theme celebrating Farmers, Freedom, and Fireworks.

Get your party on early with the local business window decorating contest sponsored by Fallon Glass & Sign. Decorations must follow the parade theme and be completed by June 30. There will be two $100 prizes, one for the Best Use of Theme and a Voters Choice Award. Business owners call (775) 423-2544 by June 29 to register your windows.

Pie bakers submit your entries for the Block Party Pie Bake-Off. Pie drop-off and judging will be held on Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Barrel House/Multi-Purpose Building at the 3C Event Complex, 325 Sheckler Road. For more information contact churchillcountyrecreation.org.

The fun on Tuesday, July 4, begins at 10 a.m. with a parade following its time-honored route starting on Taylor Street at the middle school, north on Taylor to A Street, east to Ada Street, south to Williams Avenue, east to Maine Street, and south to the middle school. Entries for floats will be accepted online at biy.ly/fallonparade2023 through June 23.

After the parade, the festivities continue with a block party on Maine Street until 1 p.m. The events and entertainment include a pie bake-off, bed races in categories for teens and adults, vendors, games, a bicycle parade, a DJ, and food trucks. Too hot you say, the fire department’s sprinkler truck will be on hand to cool you off and the Fallon Theatre will be showing Independence Day and John Wayne movies if want to get inside out of the sun. On behalf of the City of Fallon and the Live Local Fallon program Mayor Tedford and Council members will be announcing the 2023 grand prize winner. Winners of the window decoration contest, the pie bake-off, and the parade entries will also be announced. To sign up to be a vendor at the block party go to https://forms.gle/K3NmdFa2it5wtakJ8 or contact Lucy at the Fallon Chamber of Commerce at (775)423-2544 or Robyn Jordan at Churchill County Parks and Recreation (775)423-7733.

To top off your day, don’t miss the fireworks show at Rattlesnake Raceway beginning at dusk.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
