TCID Suspends Flood Operations

TCID Suspends Flood Operations
Staff report -- Officials at the Truckee Carson Irrigation District announced today that the district is officially out of flood operations for this water season. Additionally, as of yesterday, May 16, 2019 spread water deliveries have been discontinued. According to Kelly Herwick, watermaster, “spread water has ended as of midnight last night, but it is not out of the scope of possibilities that we could go back into a spread situation.” Based on current modeling by the Bureau of Reclamation Herwick said “the bureau decided to take us out of flood operations. It depends on Mother Nature, if we have a rain or snow event there is still quite a bit up there and it could come off fast.” In the case of a weather event, flood operations could be re-implemented and the district would start back up with spread water deliveries. “But it looks like it will be a slow melt,” said Herwick, “if inflows exceed our outflows, we’ll go back to flood operations.”   Never miss a meeting or community event – keep an eye on the community calendar at https://www.thefallonpost.org/events/ If you like what we’re doing, please support our effort to provide local, independent news and contribute to The Fallon Post, your online news source for all things Fallon.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
