Task Force Trafficking Arrest Yields Over 100 Grams of Meth

Daniel Lee Williams was arrested by the North Central Task Force late last week on changes of transporting and trafficking in controlled substances.

Williams appeared from the Churchill County Jail, via video conferencing in the New River Township Justice Court on Monday, March 22.

Williams was appraised of his rights and read the charges against him. According to the allegations in the criminal complaint, Williams facing is facing three charges related to drug sales and trafficking, which included offenses that took place on November 10 at or near I-80 and 119 W. Williams at the Value Inn.

Count 1: Trafficking in a Low-Level Controlled Substance. The allegations state Williams did knowingly and willfully possess between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine. The charge is punishable by 2-20 years in prison with a potential penalty of up to $100,000.

Count 2: Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, a Third or Subsequent Offense for the Purpose of Sale with two or more felony convictions under the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. The complaint states that Williams was knowingly in possession of between 14-28 grams of methamphetamine (28 grams = approx. 1.0 ounce). The charge is a Category B Felony punishable by 3-15 years and a potential fine of up to $20,000.

Count 3: Open or Maintain any Place for the Purpose of Unlawfully Selling, Giving Away, or Using any Controlled Substance, a Category B Felony punishable by 1-6 years in prison. The allegations further state that Williams maintained a place to sell drugs at the Value Inn in Fallon.

Churchill County Public Defender Jacob Sommer was assigned to represent Williams, who is scheduled to appear for a status hearing on March 24. Williams requested to be released on his Own Recognizance, which was denied.
