Rafter 3C Construction Update

Rafter 3C Construction Update

The Rafters 3C Center construction project is set to be done early to mid-spring this year. The 75,000-square-foot building on an 8.3-acre parcel has been under construction since 2020. The two-part structure consists of a gathering area that is 75 feet by 300 feet and the 175-by-300 foot arena. There will be 700 new parking spots paved on both the north and west sides of the building. The interior of this massive building is almost done. The bleacher-style seating for 1,822 people, including 30 handicapped seats, is in place, and the bathroom tile is laid.

Public Works Director Chris Spross, in charge of the construction, said, "Like many other places in our country, we sometimes run into labor and supply shortages." The current plan is to lay down a concrete floor beginning next week. This new project will take about a month to complete. The new concrete floor will allow more opportunities for different types of events such as car or RV shows, and graduations ceremonies. Other events, including livestock events, can have a dirt floor. The dirt can be placed over the concrete floors.

One of the first scheduled events, the Reno Rockabilly Riot, will occur this spring from June 9-12. This fun event will be a great way to showcase the diversity of the new arena. Mandie Koeckes, a local business owner, is looking forward to the event being in Fallon again this year. "It has been hosted in Reno, Tahoe, and Carson in past years. It is a fun event with tattoos, pinup contest, pinstriping, burnouts, and campouts." Paul Sampson, the event coordinator, is looking forward to the 12-year-old show. There will be many different awards for both tattoos and cars. He mentioned, "there will be tattoos artists from all over the country, like Idaho, Maryland, New York, and Florida. Some of the tattoo artists will also be local. There will be a Top Gun tattoo, too."

If anyone is looking for on-the-spot tattoos that are one of a kind, you won't want to miss this opportunity. This event will make a fun weekend with many different activities and lots of cool classic cars. There will be bands with live music and disco on Saturday night.

Event booking for this year will bring business to Churchill County motels and downtown businesses. The Rafter 3C will also be used for any county emergency operations when it opens. The new 3C Event Center will bring the community many fun and exciting future events.

It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking. I am Kelly’s sister, Charlene B Johnson and his daughter is Trisha Benjamin. The Fallon Tribal Police acted unconscionably by not notifying the family first. This is devastating for us especially after speaking a little bit with the officer handling the report and The Chief Juarez. Who refused to give me any further details or to at least let me know the FBI was notified and that they were investigating if my brothers death was foul play or not. My understanding is the FBI is called when a body is found. Tribal Chairwoman please do the family a solid and make sure the finding of my brother was due to suspicious circumstances.Comment publication date: 3/24/26, 1:55 PMComment source: Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe Reports Death Under InvestigationComment author: Nicole GalbraithComment text: Farren - I just saw that you aren’t here with us. I am completely in shock! I met you and hung out with you so many years ago with Jer, and Eden. I honestly can’t believe you are gone…..you were a wonderful human being, with a HUGE heart and soul. Hearing this makes my heart break! You are forever in our hearts, and I can say I feel blessed that I was able to know you!
