WNC Foundation Dinner April 5th

WNC Foundation Dinner April 5th
by Rachel Dahl -- Western Nevada College, Fallon Campus will hold a benefit fundraiser next weekend, April 5th at the Fallon Convention Center. Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting programs at the Fallon Campus and rural service areas. Holly O’Toole is the Director of the Fallon campus, and she along with Angela Viera, the support specialist at the Fallon campus and their committee are deep in preparations. “We want to support all the programs to meet their needs,” said O’Toole, “and this fundraiser will help us with the needs of each of these programs to participate and serve the community better.” Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to meet the current needs in the nursing lab, the auto and welding shops, lighting in the art gallery, and to improve the Interactive Video equipment that allows for distance education. “We also need to host student events that will help more of a student-life experience,” said O’Toole, “and this will also provide for scholarships for Fallon students.” The WNC Foundation website can be found at: https://www.wnc.edu/foundation/ The 1st Annual “Friends of Western” Benefit Fundraiser is presented this year by Manpower and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 or a table of eight is $385 and can be purchased by contacting Viera at [email protected] or 775-423-7565. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
