From the Classroom: Eighth Grade Periodic People Lab

Students in Mrs. Rosario’s Eighth Grade Class learned more about the Periodic Table in a unique lab experience. She explains, “Students arranged Periodic People into a meaningful sequence based on patterns similar to the organization of the Periodic Table of Elements. Students used their arrangement to discover the gap in their sequence (the missing Periodic Person) somewhat similar to the process that chemist Dmitri Mendeleev used with the actual Periodic Table of Elements.”

Kiss the Pig Raises Money for FFA

Thank you to everyone who donated to Oasis Academy’s FFA Kiss the Pig Fundraiser at this year’s Cantaloupe Festival. Over $500 in donations were received!

“Oasis FFA has received so much community support. This year’s candidates, John Riley with Fallon PD, Cari Norcutt with Berney Realty, Jim Barbee the County Manager, and Cheryl Venturacci with Oasis, were such great sports and both the community and the FFA members had a great time.” says FFA Advisor Jackie Bogdanowicz. “The funds raised are greatly appreciated and will be used to Oasis FFA members attend leadership training and other events.”

This year’s lucky winner was Sergeant Riley! While he was the first to kiss Sandy the pig, the other three participants were gracious enough to be auctioned off for additional money and all ended up giving Sandy a peck on the snout.

Oasis Golf Tournament Returns in October

The 2nd Annual Oasis Academy Golf Tournament will be held on October 16 at the Fallon Golf Course. Sign your team up for this fun tournament with golf, raffles, lunch, drinks and friendly competition. Oasis appreciates the community’s support for this annual event.
