Commissioners Recognized Local Champions – Oasis Bighorns and Fallon Greenwave

The Churchill County Commissioners recognize the accomplishments of individuals and teams taking top recognition for spring sports at both Oasis Academy and the Churchill County High School. 

The Lady Bighorns softball team from Oasis Academy had an undefeated season. The Lady Bighorns finished the season with a record of 15-0, including 7 shutouts. In its second year of eligibility, the Lady Bighorns are the only undefeated team in the 1A North. The team consists of: Eneyde Rios, Emma Robinson, Nadya Sanchez, Kate Rios, Rachel Bake, Callie Perez, Erin Wachsmuth, Kaitlyn Hert, Elisabeth Bird, Emily Payne. Coaching staff consisted of: Rachel Payne, Head Coach; Brandon Bird, Assistant Coach; John Short, Assistant Coach; and Darlene Short, Statistician.

The Churchill County High School boys baseball team was recognized for winning the 3A East Division, with a record of 11-8 overall, and 11-7 in league play. the team members are: Lucas Prinz, Matthew Davis, Tyler Austin, Francisco Tapia, Cade Barton, Steven Moon, Kodus Wehe, Avery Strasdin, Hunter Cooper, Isaiah Diaz, Cooper Lee, Zane Bogdanowicz, Evan Crandall, Same Lee, Bryce Adams, Baylor Sandberg, Brady Alves, Shaw Lee, Toby Anderson, and Damien Towne. Coaching staff consisted of Lester de Braga, Head Coach; Eric Clifford, Assistant Coach; David Munoz, Assistant Coach; Trevor de Braga, Assistant Coach, Riley Horn, Assistant Coach; and John Frandsen, Statistician
