Local Shelters Participate in Pet Adoption Days

Maddie’s Pet Project of Nevada is excited to announce that registration is now open for the Spring Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days being held Friday, June 11 & Saturday, June 12, 2021. Thanks to funding provided by the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, all adoption fees are being waived for dogs and cats at participating animal welfare organizations across Nevada during this two-day event. In Churchill County, Fallon Animal Welfare Group (FAWG) and Churchill Animal Protection Society (CAPS) will both be participating. CAPS will be open for extended hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, as well as FAWG which will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. both days.

Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days are traditionally held twice a year. The September 2020 adoption event resulted in 1,851 animals (1,068 cats and 783 dogs) being adopted from 44 participating Nevada animal welfare organizations, including large and small animal shelters and private rescues. More than 7,600 animals have found their forever homes during the Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days event in the past three years.

About the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation:

The Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation is a private charitable foundation based in Incline Village, Nevada. The Duffield’s are the founders of Maddie’s Fund, a leading animal welfare foundation dedicated to revolutionizing the status and well-being of companion animals. While the Duffield’s are long-time benefactors of companion animal causes, the Foundation also allows them to focus their philanthropic efforts in other areas they are passionate about, including supporting military veterans and giving back to their local community.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
