A Greenwave Baseball Win Over Fernley

A Greenwave Baseball Win Over Fernley
Greenwave Varsity Baseball team facing off with Fernley

The Churchill County High School Varsity Boys baseball team faced off against the Fernley Vaqueros on Wednesday in a conference game to a slow start. Tyler Austin pitched a great game although he fought against the Umpire. Tyler struggled to hold on to the Greenwave lead, and in spite of the calls, he pushed through, fighting the good fight.

The Vaqueros took the lead from the Greenwave in the third inning, 3-1, spurring the Greenwave into a flurry of hits. Francisco Tapia laid in out, swinging for the fences but was a little short for the homerun. He hit a solid triple, bringing in one run. Mathew Davis, one of the Greenwave power hitters also had an RBI along with Avery Strasdin.

By the end of the game, Fallon scored again for a final score of 4-3 and the win against the Vaqueros.

The next game is a doubleheader against the Vaqueros in Fernley on Saturday, April 24th. The first game will start at 11:00 a.m. and the second will be played at 1:00 p.m.

Comment author: Patti Cole Comment text: Marie will be forever treasured in memories. The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
