Future Nevada Educators Summit – building the teacher pipeline

If you or someone you know is interested in entering the education profession, WeTeachNV, a conglomerate of education organizations from across the state, including Western Nevada College and the Nevada Department of Education, along with the College of Southern Nevada, Great Basin College, Nevada State College, and other Nevada higher education institutions will hold the Inaugural Future Nevada Educators Summit on April 27 from 6-8 pm.

This virtual summit is a joint effort with the purpose of growing the educator preparation pipeline for Nevada. Registration information can be found at https://mailchi.mp/9189f8e27bbd/future-nv-educator-summit.

The Summit will include breakout sessions featuring the Nevada Teacher of the Year, hands-on workshops, sessions that explain class and licensure requirements, and plenty of opportunities to network. Participants will leave the workshops understanding the initial stages of becoming a teacher, enrolling in an education program, and/or developing cultural competence to meet the needs of Nevada’s diverse students. In addition, attendees are invited to attend the Teacher Expo and Reception immediately following the summit to speak with representatives from the Nevada System of Higher Education institutions and school districts. Each organization will have its own room, giving attendees the opportunity to ask individual questions.
