Little Free Library -- Another Service Initiative

Little Free Library -- Another Service Initiative
A new community library located at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

The pandemic has brought about a lot of changes, a lot of negative changes, but some positive ones as well. For my own sanity, I’ve chosen to look at and live the positive ones.

With businesses cutting back, laying off employees and closing, I decided it was the perfect time to retire. Now, what to do with all the free time on my hands? It was the perfect time to get all those “someday when I have time” chores done. Okay, now that the refrigerator and freezer are clean, closets and dressers are organized, windows washed, etc. what should I be doing now?

The light bulb went on and I decided that now I could do some things I WANTED to do. Like read. My husband and I are voracious readers. We both like the feel of a book, turning the paper pages and just holding a real book in our hands. The wonderful staff at Churchill County Library did their very best to hold down the fort, making sure the library was available, even though accessibility and hours were limited. Many thanks for all your work! Unfortunately, their schedule and mine didn’t always mesh. And then one day the inevitable happened. We both finished reading our library books and have read most of the books in our house...oh no! The library isn’t open for the next few days. What shall we do?

Introducing the “Little Free Library,” sponsored by Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 507 Churchill St. in Fallon. The library is a free-standing outdoor structure located in front of the vicarage, which is right next door to the church. You can also visit the Little Library Website at littlefreelibrary.org. We strive to keep it stocked with all sorts of books. Please feel free to come by and take a book, and if you have a book to share with others, you can leave it in the little library. If you have some books you’d like to donate, please call 775-423-3551. Messages are checked daily. We would be happy to set up a time to meet you, or we can pick books up at your home. Thank you.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
