District Court

The 10th Judicial District Court convened Tues- day, February 16th, with Judge Tom Stockard presiding.

Kevin Nicolas Carlin pled guilty to Burglary of a Business, a Category C Felony that carries 1-5 years in prison. Churchill County Public Defender, Jacob Sommer, stated that on November 7th, Carlin and another individual took a utility trailer and tools from a local business. Sentencing is scheduled for May 18th.

Jammie Lee Fink pled no contest to Possession of a Controlled Substance by a State Prisoner, a Category B felony with a potential penalty of 1-4 years in prison. Assistant District Attorney (ADA), Chelsea Sandford, stated that on November 5th, Fink was found in possession of methamphetamines while in the custody of the Churchill County Jail. Sentencing is scheduled for May 25th.

Sara Michelle Jones failed to appear on multiple Court Services violations. According to Parole and Probation, Jones has missed nine random drug tests and has not been checking in with Court Services. Wright Noel, public defense counsel for Jones, stated that she was in the hospital during her last testing date. ADA Pricilla Baker requested a bench warrant; however, Judge Stockard continued the matter for one week.

Loren Heath Martin pled guilty to one count of Abuse, Neglect, or Endangerment of a Child, Not Causing Substantial Bodily or Mental Harm, a gross misdemeanor. Charles Woodman Esq., defense counsel for Martin, stated that on December 26th, Martin placed his infant child in potential danger. According to the allegations, Martin punched the child’s mother as she was holding him. A status hearing is set for February 22th.

Monica Arlene Mullins-Montes pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance, a first or second offense, a Category E Felony with a potential penalty of 1-4 years in prison. ADA Chelsea Sanford stated that Mullins-Montes was pulled over for a DUI. Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officers found a dollar bill containing methamphetamines. Mullins-Montes received 18 months of probation and must participate in the Western Regional Drug Court program.

Robert Willis Ortiz failed to appear on a Court Services violation. A $25,000 cash-only bench warrant was issued.

Richard Cory Plummer failed to appear on a Court Services violation. A $25,000 cash-only bench warrant was issued.

Patricia Maxine Turner pled guilty to being Principal to the Crime of Robbery, a Category B Felony that carries a potential penalty of 2-15 years in prison. Turner also pled guilty to Buying, Possessing, or Receiving Stolen Property valued at $500 to $5,000, a Category D Felony that carries 1-4 years in prison. Churchill County Public Defender's Office (CCPD) attorney, Wright Noel, stated Turner drove a car without permission and was later in possession of stolen property. Sentencing is scheduled for May 18th

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
