This last weekend, as I was stuck inside with three other children in their early twenties due to icy roads, I found things to keep me occupied: making a tasty dinner from scratch, a new trivia card game, and endless hours of design work for the upcoming magazine and paper. However, my favorite thing to do while staying in and hiding from the angry weather, is enjoying the entire filmography of John Cusack. I came to the realization this weekend that every one of his movies is excellent, and everyone different than the last. He deserves all the recognition possible. Although I did not, it is a great idea to watch your selections in chronological order.
Watching Cusack’s John Hughes work (Sixteen Candles, Say Anything) is good for anyone, but his further work, running to the more obscure Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer will give you a few hours of hearty belly laughs. Then, moving into his later work, I would recommend a series of films, including Grosse Pointe Blank, America’s Sweethearts, and Identity. Between these three films there is genuinely something for everyone. There is romance, action, comedy, thrill, drama, mystery, and even supernaturalness.
John Cusack is one of the few actors who an audience can say was not type casted for any of his career. While he is not in the limelight now, he can be during a good weekend movie marathon.
