Grad Night 2021 -- Raising Funds for a Safe and Sober Graduation

Grad Night 2021 -- Raising Funds for a Safe and Sober Graduation

Fundraising and planning for the Celebration for Life: Grad Night 2021 has begun in earnest, facing an entirely new complication this year. To celebrate the life and legacy of the approximately 220 graduates of Churchill County High School Class of 2021, the committee is trying to raise $30,000.
Last year, Grad Night was not allowed to happen, but the committee was able to provide each graduate with a cash gift.

Organizers, a committee made up of parents of the Class of 2021, say they desperately need help from the community this year, as the traditional fundraisers are in jeopardy due to the current restrictions mandated by the governor. Officers this year are President Tammi Valerio, Vice President Stephanie Hamlin, Treasurer Jenn Sanches, and Secretary Shyanna Wehe.

NAS Fallon has graciously hosted this event, beginning with the graduating class of 1988. Each year the committee changes to include the parents of the students for that class year, and each year a multitude of fundraisers take place that have become community traditions including the Father Daughter Dance and Casino Night.

Grad Night is a drug and alcohol-free event that includes music, food, dancing, games, door prizes, and raffles for all graduating students and has always relied on the support of parents, community members, local businesses, and the base. Facing the challenges brought about by the COVID situation, the parent committee for Grad Night 2021 is not backing down, but rather rallying around the kindest community in Nevada and asking for any support people can give.

For 33 years, the graduates of Churchill County High School and their parents have been able to plan for the biggest night of their lives – graduation.  This year, all of that is in jeopardy due to circumstances that are beyond the control of any of the 220 graduates or their parents.

Anyone able to assist in any way with merchandise or support, can email the committee at [email protected]

Grad Night organizers are asking for the members of Churchill County to come together in true Greenwave fighting spirit and consider sending in any tax-deductible donations made payable to:

   Grad Night 2021
Celebration for Life: Grad Night 2021
PO Box 5478 Fallon, NV 89407

The committee also appreciates help with the planning process, and invites anyone who may be interested to attend meetings and activities or join the Facebook page at Facebook.com/gradnight21 for more information.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
