Family Reading Program Launches at The Library

Family Reading Program Launches at The Library

The Family Reading Program is back with an innovation born of the COVID pandemic. Sponsored by the Churchill Library Association, the reading program is intended to give families the opportunity to work with early literacy with their children. CLA is the non-profit fundraising arm of the Churchill County Library.
Families can pick up a package once a month at the library, by appointment, which includes a copy of the book, a craft and activity, along with informational sheet to help parents with what they can do to help their children become readers. Once a month, parents pick up the package and then they can watch the recorded story time which will be available virtually on social media; Facebook and Instagram, and the website.
“The thing is, anyone can go back and watch the story time, and especially if their child loves the story, they can watch it again,” said Carol Lloyd, Library Director. “What some parents are doing, which is pretty cool, is doing the craft and then taking a picture of it, and then we post it on Facebook.”
Lloyd said since the library can’t do story time like they used to, “we’re just searching for ways to try to reach families and children because we can’t do story time like we used to.”
The schedule for the Family Reading Program is:

January 21-My Truck by is Stuck! by Kevin Lewis and Daniel Kirk
February 18- Not a Box by Antoinette Portis
March 18- Owen by Kevin Henkes
April 15-Seven Blind Mine by Ed Young
May 20- It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw
The regular story time and the activity packet will still be available on Monday of every week. The library is located at 553 South Maine Street in Fallon and
www.churchillcountylibrary.org. Appointments can be made to pick up the packets at 775-423-7581.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
